(2020) Discussion about the real problem: throwing in ranked matches

This thread was added on April 12, 2020, with posts from UbiMorning.

There is a blatant and rampant amount of basic throwing by ( mainly Smurf accounts) players in Ranked games.
Ever since i reached high gold and even into platinum there has been more smurffing than i have ever seen in all honestly. Now this is fine with me at the end of the day but what is not fine is when those players ( and theyre usually is only one in a lone squad) throw the round by using utility on teammates, or tea-bagging amd not shooting at enemies, or just not even attacking / defending at all.
Now yes you can click the "grieffing" and or the cheating/hacking button. But really and lets be honest what good does that do?
There needs to be a better form of handling this. And yes the reputation system is apparently coming but come on people.

The button and submitting a support ticket does actually work, it is just the time to process reports can take longer since they are done on a case by case basis. You can opt in to receive an email once an action has been taken against someone you report. The dev team is happy to accept feedback on how to further enhance the reporting process. I've seen suggestions to have the in-game report system more customizable and allow for you to select more than one report type at once. Besides receiving an email once something has been done, is there any other type of visible feedback you would like to see?

Just today, first round in an idiot on my team tries to spawn kill, gets head shoted, and leaves the ranked game. First death, first round. This should result in a daily ban.
But no, they get a 30 or 1 hour ban, they come back and do the same ****.
There are escalating penalties in place currently. If they continue to TK, the bans will get longer.
Or worse when you just join into a ranked and during voting screen some idiot gets mad that they did not get their pick so they leave.
Being put in a situation without a full team is upsetting, and the team has been looking into ways to prevent this from happening in the future. The same is being applied to situations where you join a Ranked lobby with less than 10 players.
