Can someone help me understand these new unified ranks - What does it mean?
If the ranks are unified - I assume it's all one big server, no more EU, NA etc. But if that's the case will EU players be playing ranked vs NA players, and if so - won't there still be lag issues and abuse??
Also how will the placements work - You're MMR at the end of the season affects where you're placed the next season, if it's all unified how will that work, I've MMR on EU & NA, which will it use when I conclude my placements to see where I get placed?
Also does this basically mean that if you're Diamond, and live in EU, that when you play with say a friend who's NA, instead of seeing unranked like now, they'd see Diamond?
It all seems a bit strange to me that's all

From the Patch Notes:
Rating system. In order to prevent matchmaking abuses while switching regions, we will be changing to unified MMRs for each playlist. This means that you will not have different MMRs depending on the region you play in. However, your matchmaking ranking will remain separate in different playlists.
For example, let's say I am Gold 3 on NA Ranked Servers. If I were to play on EU servers, I would be playing in Gold 3 elo. There are still individual datacenters for each location, so if you are in NA you should be playing on NA servers. This change just helps with players who were swapping datacenters because they are unranked in a different region.
