I just got the game and when trying to log in it just fails. Are the servers down?

Wait Response Failed is an error associated with either an incompatible region to account link (i.e. if you selected the NA servers and try to bind a WG EU account to the game) or with a password issue.
Could you tell me which region you selected: ASIA, CIS, NA or EU?
