Kenta “glory” Sato defeated Jaromír "Jarla" Vyskočil to win the Hearthstone 2020 World Championship! Despite a close final match, the Asia-Pacific Grandmaster from Japan ultimately triumphed 3-1 to secure his spot in the Hall of Champions, the World Championship trophy, and $200,000 (USD) in prizing.

Darkmoon Duel-Fest will utilize a brand-new format we’re calling Last Duelist Standing. In this format, competitors play through 3 closed-circuit Duels runs until either one player remains, or one or more players reach 12 wins. Players are awarded 10 points for game win, and once a player loses 3 times they are out for that run. After the 3 full runs are completed, individual scores from each run are combined to make a player’s final score. These final scores will be the decider for the event’s results and prize pool, and additional prizing can be earned for being the “Last Duelist Standing” of each run!

Duels: Season One has begun! Thank you to everyone who played through Duels: Early Access. Duels is now accessible in-game to all players from the Modes menu and comes in two flavors (with two separate matchmaking pools)—Casual and Heroic!

Casual runs are free and are a perfect starting point for exploring the mode and experimenting. Heroic runs feature success-based rewards identical to Arena rewards, including gold, arcane dust, cards, golden cards, and card packs from the latest expansion. Heroic Duels runs cost 150 gold or a Tavern Ticket (US $1.99), which have replaced Arena Tickets, and now grant entry to Arena or Heroic Duels. If you’ve been sitting on Arena Tickets, you can use them on a Heroic Duels run now!

In light of the ongoing global health risks associated with in-person gatherings, we’ve canceled official Fireside Gatherings for the near future and disabled the ability to create public events.

We do, however, want individuals at home to have an opportunity to partake in the upcoming Pre-Release weekend, so we’ll be keeping private event functionality intact. Players can register their own one-person event to enjoy opening Madness at the Darkmoon Faire card packs from November 13-15.
