Attention Vanguard, 

It is nearly time to go planetside once more. The next First Strike playtest for EVE Vanguard is taking place from 12:00 UTC 25 January - 12:00 UTC 29 January, opening the doors once again to the in-development FPS module for EVE Online. The event is open to all Omega players as part of Founders’ Access.   

ADVANCING IN FORMATION 

EVE Vanguard is a work in progress, being developed in collaboration with you, the community. This upcoming playtest will welcome even more warclones by opening server access in the Asia Pacific and South American territories.  

The First Strike playtest event in December provided a wealth of insights which have already been put to good use in the upcoming build. Issues have been identified, bugs have been fixed and minor changes have been made, all of which would not have been possible without participation and feedback from you, the Founders. As we warp into the new year, we want to thank you, our community, for a monumental 2023 and cast our eyes forward, filled with immense anticipation and excitement for what lies ahead in EVE Online.

The 20th anniversary year was an epic one, with a record breaking Fanfest, two expansions, the EVE Vanguard First Strike event, and much more! The end of year episode of EVE Pulse captured some of the highlights and notable capsuleer achievements.

Since moving to expansions in 2022, we have seen remarkable engagement and excitement in the community. The Uprising, Viridian, and Havoc expansions empowered capsuleers to impact the universe in different ways and have laid a robust foundation to build on this year.  You have made New Eden more vibrant with life and bustling with activity, as evidenced by amazing player stories, increased numbers of players in space, and boots on the ground.

Greetings, New Eden; we're back with another edition of the Community Beat, your best source of all New Edens going on that could be confused with being called New Edens Hottest (information) Sauce..? ANYWAY, let's get going!

Beautifully Crafted

The universe is filled with those craft-orientated, be it the ability to create a spaceship from our favorite colored bricks as we saw during the last beat, or as they become more affordable in the world, 3D printed models! The exciting thing about many 3rd models is the variety of details in the models, with some creators adding additional highlighted details, additional components to the design, or even an elegant faction-aligned appropriate stand into the equation. Regardless, we always enjoy seeing these beautiful creations out in the wild, be it a work in progress, in person at an EVE meet, or presented on a display. Fantastic work, "eetor." Budding Vanguard, 

The time approaches for Founders to go planetside once again in the next First Strike playtest from 25-29 January. This Founders’ Access to the First Strike January playtest gives you the chance to try out EVE Vanguard, the in-development FPS module for EVE Online, and contribute to its ongoing development. The only requirement to join the playtest is to have Omega access, and there has never been a better time to upgrade, as both the EVE Store and the New Eden Store are offering 14 days of Omega access for a limited time, giving anyone interested in jumping into EVE Vanguard an unmissable opportunity. 

From now until 23:59 UTC on 28 January, you can upgrade with 14 days of Omega time for only $9.99 in the EVE Store, or 250 PLEX in the NES. So, don’t miss the chance to go boots-on-the-ground and try out EVE Vanguard!  

Ambitious capsuleers,

The Havoc expansion for EVE Online was introduced last November, and has been a big hit with capsuleers, introducing the chance to align with pirates or fight against them, in a gripping struggle between suppression and corruption. Nothing is static in New Eden, including Havoc, and the first update of the new year is now live, bringing adjustments to Pirate Insurgencies, graphical updates, certain NPCs respecting pirate alignment, and more.

Modify your ambitions

Among the things announced on stage at Fanfest 2023, when the Havoc expansion was revealed, was the inclusion of an Ambition Modifier, which adjusts the number of points needed to win an Insurgency. The Ambition Modifier has now been implemented in Havoc, and it will affect the side that regularly wins Insurgencies by requiring more system wins for subsequent victories.
