Things like this are why I stay in game dev, hard as it might be sometimes. Games have always been a form of escapism for me, a different version of reality that's actually rooting for you to win and trying to give you the tools you need to succeed, unlike the challenging world we actually live in. As someone who even now struggles with depression and self-esteem issues I'm glad to have been involved even a little bit in giving some joy to your life.

That's hard for me to believe. Respawn has 315 employees, a lot of those are developers. There is no way a character takes that long for an entire team to design, animate and mock up two abilities for. If it took 8 months per, there would have only been 1 new character. Most of the new characters were probably finished a long time ago or the majority of the design work was already done, too.
It may be hard for you to believe, but it's the truth. We also have 3 game teams working on titles in full production, so that 315 number (which I think is incorrect?) are not all people working on Apex. I'm not disbelieving your comment that you are also a developer, but if you're in the same triple A space we're in you should not find our declared timeframes of how long it takes to make stuff hard to believe.

I don't quite get the math. the top theres a x12 on the 2 kills 1 assist counter. Then placement is 8th. From the chart u get 20 RP for that placement. Next to that counter theres +32 RP (is that telling me how much RP I am getting? Thats NEAT)
anyways that x12 is confusing as fuck cuz 3 x12 is already not 32.. It looks based on the chart that you got 12 RP from ur kills and get added to ur 20 RP for placement.

Maybe I just need more coffee, but I'm not understanding how the new point system works.
As an example, if I get Rank 7 with 3 kills and 2 assists....
Rank 7 = 20 RP
Kill/assist Multiplier = 12x, so does that mean I combine my kills and assists (5) and then multiply that by 12? So 60 RP for kills/assists + 20 RP for placement = 80 points for the match?

Since everything is multiplied by a factor of 10, each kill is worth 10 RP (instead of 1) and then only your assists use the multiplier? So in my example, I'd get 30 RP for kills + 24 RP for assists, making my point total 74 for the match?
Your first calculation is correct; you will earn 80 RP for that match. We probably should have said this more explicitly as well but the screenshot of the in-game HUD shows how this math works. What might not be obvious is that the "+32 RP" takes into account the entry cost for you, so in that picture it was: ( 2 kills + 1 assists ) * 12 + ( 20 from placement ) - (24 for gold entry cost ) = 32. Yep, we know it's a lot of math; the hope is that with the HUD element you can just take a quick glance and figure out what your RP change would be at any given second.

Respawn just keep operating in such a weird way. Why not just announce these at the start so people actually want to play ranked?
Or is it a great strategy to try and keep people hooked and their player base up?
Everything takes time to do, the rewards were not ready at the start of the season.
