As we approach the release of phase 3 of Season of Discovery, we wanted to take a quick moment to talk about the new Nightmare Incursion feature and to set a few expectations around how this will function. This is quite unlike anything we’ve done thus far in Season of Discovery and in order to prepare you for what you’ll face, we wanted to provide a short primer to help prepare you for your first few incursions.

So, what are Nightmare Incursions?

Nightmare Incursions are new outdoor content that is predominately PvE-focused (though PvP will occur on a PvP server in these ) . You’ll start each incursion with a quest that you get at new Field Captain NPCs outside of each of the dream portals located in Duskwood, Ashenvale, Feralas, and Hinterlands. This quest will have you taking on the new demon creatures that have taken up residence just outside the dream portals in each zone. Mark your calendar for April 4 when Season of Discovery Phase 3 goes live at 1:00 pm PDT worldwide. Adventurers can level from 41 to 50, earn up to 10 additional talent points, brave new encounters in the Sunken Temple (Temple of Atal’Hakkar) as a new 20-player raid dungeon, discover new runes and abilities, and more!

New Runes

• New runes are available to discover. Each class has access to at least 6 new runes in Phase 3.

Nightmare Incursions

• A new activity called Nightmare Incursions has been added. Enter missions to face off against the new demon creatures that have taken up residence just outside the dream portals in each zone. Click here for more information on Nightmare Incursions.
• Players who wish to participate in these activities should seek out the Field Captain NPCs a short distance away from each of the Dream Portals in Duskwood, Ashenvale, Feralas, and Hinterlands to begin their adventures.

The current PvP season in Wrath Classic is ending soon. The evening before weekly maintenance, at 10:00 p.m. PDT (April 15), Season 8 will end. There will be an off-season period until Season 9 goes live after Cataclysm launches.

Please note that Arena Points will be converted to Honor when patch 4.4.0 releases.

• Fixed an issue where the Golden Egg in Noblegarden could fail to trigger the boss spawn.
• The Noblegarden daily quest “Feathered Fiend” is no longer shareable.

With scheduled weekly maintenance on April 2, we will make the following adjustments:

Tindral Sageswift

• Fiery Growth’s targets reduced to 3 on Mythic difficulty (was 4).
• Fiery Growth’s damage reduced by 20% on Mythic difficulty.
• Falling Star’s damage reduced by 15% on Mythic difficulty.
• Pulsing Heat’s damage reduced by 10% on Mythic difficulty.

Fyrakk

• Shadow Cage now lasts 12 seconds on Mythic difficulty.
• Flamebound now increases damage taken from Flame Orbs by 5% on Mythic difficulty (was 30%).
• Shadowbound now increases damage taken from Shadow Orbs by 5% on Mythic difficulty (was 30%).
• Blaze damage decreased by 20% on Mythic difficulty.
• Maximum health of Darnassian Ancient decreased by 20% on Mythic difficulty.

The current version of Bloodstained Commendations are going to remain purchasable until Thursday when Phase 3 launches. Make sure to buy any you want before then!

Note that if you are already Rank 5 and you use them today, you won’t rank up tomorrow as the level cap has not increased yet. Rank 5 characters should use them after maintenance tomorrow so that you get that honor for the following week’s reset on April 9.

• High-Yield Radiation Bomb adjusted:
  • Its slow effect can now be removed with snare removal effects.
  • Its damage-over-time is now correctly Nature damage and a Poison effect (was Magical).
  • The initial damage of the bomb now works on enemies that are typically immune to slows.
  • The initial damage of the bomb will now always go off when it hits.
• The increased armor value of certain mechanical bosses in Gnomeregan has been reduced slightly.
  • Developers’ notes: The higher armor values on certain mechanical enemies in Gnomeregan was correct and intended, but we will adjust the armor on Crowd Pummeler 9-60 and Mekingeer Thermaplugg slightly to provide up to a 10% increase in physical damage received, depending on modifiers present. We also checked the Mechanical Managerie, and it is using the correct armor values.

• Hyperconductive Caster Set’s 3-piece bonus now works correctly with healing and damaging runes.
• Chronostatic Preservation duration increased to 20 seconds (was 15 seconds), and now works with mouseover macros.
• Drained of Blood will now periodically remove debilitating effects that are still affecting the player.
• Additional Chained Spirit graveyards and patrols have been added during the Blood Moon event.
• Fixed an issue with Lesser Arcane Elixir that caused it to not be usable at the required level on the tooltip.
• Kha’damu’s Blood Craze will no longer increase his damage dealt.

• Elite and Dungeon Quests now grant additional bonus experience.
• The Dismantle enchant now procs more often for casters and melee.
• The vendor price of Ez-Thro Radiation Bombs and High-Yield Radiation Bomb has been reduced.
• Players in the Spirit World can now resurrect at Chained Spirits for up to 30 minutes after a Blood Moon ends.

• Increased the number of crafting materials found in Boxes of Gnomeregan Salvage and slightly increased the drop rate of Grime-Encrusted Salvage throughout Gnomeregan.

  • Starsurge bonus damage to Starfire increased to 80% (was 66%). Corrected a bug causing this bonus damage to be lower than intended at level 40.
