this is fantastic
I feel like this update was really elegantly done and Mod Flippy deserves a shout out for making it happen. The event was super short and with a guide almost trivial, so those who just wanted the reward and didn't want to participate could spam the space bar and be done in minutes, and to those of us who wanted to really enjoy the event the dialogue was absolutely gold. The concept was funny and well executed and it was exactly the 10 minute break from barb fishing I wanted yesterday.
The cutscene was also hilarious, the outfit fits the event, it was just the right amount of satire, and the additional easter egg to make the costume 'spookier' is brilliant.
Really, really well done Mod Flippy.
First off, wow. Massive thank you, it makes me really happy the update was received well.
Secondly, this update came from the whole Old School team. I did the design and developed the update, but there's so much more that goes into an update like this.
West made amazing rewards and Gee made the super cute Goblins. Whole team (even mods outside OSRS) helped me playtest and gave me crucial, very necessary feedback. Curse fixed many nasty bugs and spelling mistakes and Ash and Roq helped me hotfix bugs that went into live. Additionally, Kieren, Ed, Lenny and Husky helped me out with the training I needed to do it in the first place.
The reason I'm saying this is because we all try to give you these type of updates, to make you guys happy. I'm incredibly proud we managed to meet that goal with this one, so really: Thank you, again.
Enjoy your weekend gamers, and remember to do your farm runs.
Read moreI was hoping he’d say “lol sit” after he stabbed the second. Unfortunately I was disappointed
Fun fact: His original line was ”Sit kid” which later on got revamped to ”Lmao” and lastly ”Lol”.
why doesnt epic mager34 just log off and make a new account
He's new, give him a break.
That's very kind of you, and thank you for playing! Honestly I'm just overwhelmed with all the nice and happy comments. It makes me extra motivated and I'm so proud to be making content for you guys.
Happy you liked the event, see you around!
Edit: Wow, as a noob dev this means the world. Thanks.
I can’t wait to do it after I get outta class, looks so awesome from what people have shown.
I’m pumped for your next project! Anything to tease us with or what you’re moving onto next?
Hope you have fun! Working on Leagues now and Morytania afterwards I think.
I just want to say that I appreciated the theme and the work done on this event. It is one of my favorite events in recent memory. It definitely captured the oldschool feel, and was reminiscent of Goblin Diplomacy. Great job and I look forward to more of the content you work on in the future.
Hey! It means the world to me seeing people having fun and enjoying the event, I wasn't expecting such a positive reaction. Thank you so much.
Hands down the best event that they've ever written. absolutely great
<3
Did not expect this one.
nice
People asked to use the bedsheet outside of the town and (IMO, with this part) Jagex delivered. They better get acknowledged for this bc this is one of those useless things that they didn't have to do but here we are
This was the best work-around we could come up with. Creds to Mod West for re-creating the sheets. :^ )
Congrats! Farming is life
Flippy for the love of god dont let us hanging too long.
I am at work rn reloading the page just in hope of seeing new details appearing.
The hype is so real that I spammed some of my friends who dont play anymore just because ai feel like people will come back for that!
It makes me incredibly happy to see posts like this. Believe me, I am equally hyped. My best excitement-outlet is planning my account, because having a game-plan will be key.
Keep staying tuned, it will be worth it. Happy scaping!
It makes me so happy seeing you guys already coming up with ideas like this for future leagues. Really cool concept, thanks for the suggestion!
/u/JagexFlippy /u/JagexHusky I hope this hasn't already been answered as to not waste your time but:
Is there a plan on how players are to obtain viable equipment for Chambers and its challenge mode? Hitting time requirements on challenge modes are going to be awfully tight if not too tight. Are players going to recieve equipment from rewards/tasks alongside points such as Blowpipe, higher tier crossbows, etc?
And will drop rates be changing to accomodate tasks? Asking to weild a 1/5000 droprate item people commonly go dry on as a Hard task is a bit of a stretch surely not?
This you will have to find out once the update goes live, we don't want to spoil the juicy parts for you guys! Theory-crafting is key in this game mode! :)
What will you do about all the items that you get components for on zeah?? Dragon hunter lance, kodai wand, etc? Would these drops be unusable? Since they require a zamorakian hasta and master wand respectively?
No spoilers, but I will at least say we have thought about this.
Your comment was responding to complaints about three tasks, two of which are rng based, stating that those are for hardcore players to grind out if they want to compete for the top ranks. My response was stating that those aren't realistically attainable without getting lucky, even if you're a hardcore player.
I agree, but is that relevant as long as it doesn't affect your end goals and result? If a pet or such is not a gatekeeper towards receiving your desired reward or rank, I struggle understanding why it's a problem for such tasks to exist. We would intentionally withhold content for some who could actually achieve it.
Im not a big fan of pet drops being facts that can determine how high you can place. Unelss there is some sort of luck bad luck protection. I feel like this type of game design feels VERY bad for the players specially competitive ones (since it all comes down to rng to determine if you can complete the task or not)
I also dont think rewards should be tradeable but instead should be available after every season. (not limited). If you are bad and want the rewards play 2 seasons. If you are good play one. Making them tradeable removes a lot of the prestige that comes from the rewards themselves.
As I stated above, we don't want heavy RNG to determine your rank.
Pet is to heavily based on rng. A player with Max gear, stats and scouts is very likely to never get it in that timeframe. Look at kacy with Max gear took 4k solo kc for Pet.
Of course it is, but the relevancy of the pet task is completely dependent on the amount of master/elite tasks we are handing you. If the pet was one out of a hundred (as an example, not a real number) master tasks, it would make literally no difference whether you got a pet or not. You see where I'm coming from?
