(2019) Huge frame drops on pc. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?? If so how did you fix it.

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing huge FPS drops. My current specs are a i7 8700K and a RTX 2080ti with 32 GB of ddr 4 ram. I run the division 2 at 1440p on ultra setting and get around 80 to 120 FPS depending on indoor or outdoor setting. Playing the game for the first 3 hours was working fine a few lag spikes and very few FPS drops but like into the high 70’s . But after the 3 hour mark I would go from 120 to 12 FPS for no reason. and it happen every 30 seconds. So I decided maybe ultra isn’t the way to go I lowered it to high and turned off the volumetric fog. I was now averaging 120 to 150 FPS but still getting to huge FPS DROP THE LOWEST TO 7 FPS. I looked online but I can only see people experienced this through the beta and now PS4. Now that it has released are people still experience this still.

Hey! A few random fixes that might help:

  • Swap to Borderless Windows if you haven't already
  • Update to latest NVIDIA drivers (419.35)
  • Turn off background software that might be hogging resources
  • Turn off Vsync if you are running a GSync monitor
  • Change from DX11 to 12 or vice versa

Thanks for this. During the beta, i actually found having vsync on seemed to help despite having a Gsync monitor (and Gsync enabled). Glad that i should be able to switch that back.

I can't speak for everyone's experience since I can imagine individual monitor hardware can affect this, but it definitely helped in my case (together with changing to borderless windowed).

Hopefully people are finding this kind of information on places other than Reddit or buried in the forums. Or maybe you all are Massively omnipresent....

We're active on lots of channels (#AskTheDivision2 on Twitter is a great place to get help) but some are especially good for sharing information which then reaches further, reddit being one of them.

Gamers are generally wonderful people that love to help each other, so posting answers publicly like this often has a great ROI time wise for aiding as many as possible. :)

  • RAM:

  • GPU:

  • Does this occur in specific parts of the game or only in certain areas/missions?

  • Does this only occur when playing solo /co-op or both?

  • Does the issue worsen over time?
