(2019) FPS issue with running Rust from steam or Rust.exe

This thread was added on April 06, 2019, with posts from Alistair_Mc.

Original Post

Rust from RustClient.exe without easy anti cheat 121 FPS

Rust from steam with easy anti cheat (on client) 45fps

Test pc specs:

- GTX 1080

- 16gb of ram 3200mhz

- Ryzen 2700x with smt off (with it on it is even worse)

- My own server with no one on it and wiped before the test with easy anti cheat disabled

How to test this yourself:

- Find a cracked server or host a server without easy anti cheat

- Make sure rust is closed

- Start rust without easy anti cheat by starting Rust from: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rust\RustClient.exe"

- Join a server- Open console (F1) and write global.perf 2- Check your fps and then close Rust.

- Do the same thing on the same server and the same location

Does someone have any tips how to fix this?

We'll investigate and reach out to EAC.

Edit:

I'd expect this to rather an edge case as none of our test systems shows this issue and other factors could be at play. Don't jump on the EAC hate bandwagon and don't expect a sudden FPS boost.
