Some players clicking out of chat or a cutscene before progress was set.

Same! I just finished story mode for the first time but it didn't let me progress the quest.
Just go talk to Bryll. It might just be that the quest journal doesn't state it, but it should have updated the relevant variables and you can continue.
I've talked to her probably 10+ times and still wont let me skip the dungeon to continue, I was sure deathtouched darts counted as completing it because I was able to skip the temple of aiminishi part because i used darts to beat Masuta and Seriyu before beating ED2 twice using darts
Did you do this on story mode or on normal mode?
story for ED1 then normal for ED2
Ah it might be the deathtouched dart in that scenario. As it doesn't count towards boss kills, which linked with a bug at the time (now hotfixed) wouldn't have counted towards the quest.
If you complete storymode even with deathtouched darts it should be fine now. Or if you do normal now for that matter.
