@BenevolenceOW @aaronkellerOW @WHO Just in case the World Health Organization doesn't have time to respond: They're new, different skins. They don't replace the old ones and we won't be automatically granting them to folks who own the old skins.
@andreizaharia27 @aaronkellerOW I haven't looked into the specific case you're referencing, but team-based rating systems like ours (or TrueSkill or whatever) can often have counterintuitive outcomes. I can't speak to the specifics of our implementation - I'm not that smart. But I can speak in general terms!
@andreizaharia27 @aaronkellerOW Even in Win/Loss based systems like these, factors such as expected match outcome and level of certainty in the player's current rating can have a big impact in rating increase or decrease after a match. You can lose more than win and increase your rating overall, for example.
@andreizaharia27 @aaronkellerOW All of which is to say - This shit is complicated. That isn't an excuse for it being frustrating or counterintuitive. It's just the context for why sometimes the player experience can suffer while teams sort out kinks.
@andreizaharia27 @aaronkellerOW If you're ever interested, you can read through whitepapers like this for more context on how these kinds of beasts work. This isn't an endorsement of TrueSkill or anything, it's just a good read. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/project/trueskill-ranking-system/
@Supreme_Gordita With systems like Challenges, you're generally either providing time-based goals (do a thing X times) or achievement-based goals (accomplish a specific thing). Win-based challenges are a blend of the two that creates some variety.
@Supreme_Gordita Sometimes you'll complete the challenge more quickly, sometimes less quickly, and you have some agency in that outcome. It's more interesting, although that comes at the expense of being less predictable.
@Supreme_Gordita Definitely something the team is evaluating and considering changes to, though. There are lots of different ways to structure these challenges and we want them to be fun and, well, challenging. When they become frustrating (as they have in the past), we feel it, too.
@Supreme_Gordita There have been a few account progress bugs since launch, I believe. Did you merge your console and http://battle.net accounts?
@Supreme_Gordita Let me educate myself on the different issues we had to see if that might map to one of them. Sorry that I don't know off the top of my head!
@andreizaharia27 @aaronkellerOW All good, this stuff is fascinating (to me, anyway) and way more complex than it probably seems like it'd be. At the end of the day, none of that complexity matters if the player experience is bad, though, so we'll always be making updates to improve it.
RT @PlayOverwatch: It’s a collaboration of heroic proportions 👊 Grab the Legendary #Overwatch2 x #OnePunchMan skins when they hit the Shop…
Yes, this lobby animation just keeps going as Saitama Doomfist does his daily training routine :) One Punch Man collab is live now! https://t.co/ezRRsLvvmk
I just stood here and watched the whole thing while eating lunch. Time well spent. https://twitter.com/Spex_J/status/1633183411257868289
@harvv In....the shop? What do you mean? (Sorry if I'm missing something) http://pbs.twimg.com/media/FqpPm38aMAAT5vP.jpg
@harvv OH, sometimes when we roll out an update things in the shop take a bit to display properly. It's happened to me a few times. Apologies if it was confusing.
@David_R_Perez @PlayOverwatch Awesome, I'm glad you like the change!
