A lot of local stores are still taking orders via their websites, phone, email, social media, etc.

Can someone please explain how this is going to work? Will game stores have codes they send after you make a purchase, or should we send proof of purchase to wizards somehow?

How this is done depends on the store. I would try calling your local game store for details.
