We've penciled it in for start of 2028
This thread was added on April 15, 2025, with posts from RiotMeddler, phroxz0n, GalaxySmash.
Camille bio - has been completed, picking a release date at present (as in, was under discussion yesterday)
Seraphine - almost updated, about to pick a release date (might bundle with Camille, TBD)
Xin - You'll see some more of Xin this season. I expect we'll update his bio at some point but that's not where we want to be primarily driving storytelling if it's possible to use other mediums or tools
Shyv - nothing to share at present
As part of developing these map variants for SR, plus other stuff like Arena and Bridge of Progress ARAM, we have improved our internal art tools for making maps. No promises, but that would make it easier to do things like larger map visual changes at some point in the future
Can understand the skepticism, we'll talk more about this one in a future update once we can share some data and specifics on what we're seeing + pick your brains on whether you're feeling any changes in game or not
We're doing one new champion per season. So Yunara will come out sometime in season 2 of the year, then another new champ sometime in season 3.
Season 2 will have some direct continuity with Season 1 in some places, plus some separate themes as well. I want to be vague as to what and where to not undercut the planned ways that stuff will get experienced/revealed. I know a lot of people will look at Spirit Blossom and assume this is a less canon season than they'd expected, there's a lot of canon Runeterra stuff going on and Spirit Blossom itself is a core part of Runeterra, even if the skins within it are then interpretations of the spirit concepts onto existing champions.
It's not just Xin and Spirit Blossom. We're also very trying to focus on a limited cast of champs with this seasonal storytelling right now though. We can't do justice to every champion in a faction at once (hell, Arcane with 2 full tv seasons still needed to focus on a subset of the Piltover and Zaun champs). We think it's better to get a bit more depth/context per champ we do cover than go super broad but really shallow.
something that's on our radar, in particular making it more clear what things contribute to honor and tuning those ratios appropriately
Yeah, that's a problem and we know we have a number of champs where that is the case (and has been for a while for some).
Not wanting to do storytelling through bios for me at least is more about not wanting to debut major new info or character arcs there. So good/great to reflect them there, but ideally we're debuting stuff in ways that connect with a broader audience and take advantage of other mediums or capabilities
We can share some reflections at some point for sure. I'd like to give it a bit more time though, given I expect some things will be clearer once they settle a bit more and players see where there is and isn't connectivity with future seasons
She's not a support
The amount of those Halo streak voice lines that have been spoken during this development is quite high
The eternals popup is removed, and the death screen is still a tint of grey.
It’s a legendary skin, icon is wrong
1 - yes, at a minimum Atakhan should be around for the rest of the year at least. If we did want to remove him entirely at some point would want to do so at the start of a year if possible given removing an epic objective entirely is pretty significant adjustment to make during the year from a competitive impact perspective
2 - yes, still planning some standard SR visuals at some point during the year
3 - I’m pretty torn. Maybe season 3 for certain elements in particular but there are aspects of each I really like in different ways
More like the middle of the third season than the start
