(2021) YSK: Replays and Spectate mode innately have the ability to have extended zoom

This thread was added on March 23, 2021, with posts from xEffiez.

In Spectate and Replays, you can zoom out just like in the professional live streams by pressing Ctrl-Shift-Z. You don't need to have Skin Spotlights' Creator Suite to do this, if you don't want to install anything extra.

Also, if you want to have that smooth panning, bind a key to Drag Scroll Lock in Camera Controls under Hotkeys.

The source is this surprisingly hidden video from a rioter which details some other interesting things (one of which unlocks the First Person Camera): https://youtu.be/wxnbfgkZkzQ I'm not sure how the controls compare to the skin spotlights tool for the FPS camera, but that't not the point of this post.

Edit: As /u/Caenen_ rightfully points out, the video does have you add a line of text to a config file to get the FPS camera, and also your keyboard layout will change what the keybind is for unlocking the camera zoom - mine is QWERTY, so the Z key is the bottom left - so it's probably that key on yours too.

When you need to add programs to a game to add a zoom in and zoom out to replays, which is something that let's say Halo 3 had in it's Theater Mode, which came out in 2007, shows how far behind Riot is. I get it, it's cool there's a way to do it now, but it should be something that is already apart of the replays instead of a 3rd party application.

Extended zoom exists in the game client itself and has never needed external programs to work :/

LEC Observers need to have a damn seminar for all other regions on how to observe. You guys are the best.
