A lot of people signed up for beta and are just waiting, that's ok.
As we get closer to beta we will ramp up trailer production and such.

From my experience, almost every single false ban claims I've seen on Twitter ended up being real bans. Sometimes caused by them hacking on an alt, or someone stealing their account, etc.
@itsnevertene Also, you tend to attract a demographic that has a higher chance of being involved in pvp (and hacking) - so the statistics are going to be screwed.
If we were to ask a broader audience at random, it would show a totally different result.

Noticed a large amount of Minecraft players getting their account stolen and used to hack with - please remember to change your password on a monthly basis and never use that password elsewhere.
Unfortunately, you will not be unbanned if the account is caught hacking on Hypixel.
In total, about 20% of players are caught hacking and a large portion of them are stolen accounts.
Minecraft has probably the highest hacker ratio of any games out there, quite disappointing.
@NEXUS2345 Dealing with younger players I would say changing it monthly because they always end up using that password elsewhere.

@RefractionPlays @hannahxxrose Yeah itās random, so basically if you are unlucky on your server there could be 20 games of high demand type running and then another time you could get into a machine with only few people and no issues. To Ā«Ā fix itĀ Ā» we usually throw servers AKA money at it.
@RefractionPlays @hannahxxrose SkyBlock went viral a bit Ā«Ā too fastĀ Ā» for us to scale, so while new servers are coming we made some improvements but the real fix is to throw servers at it.
@RefractionPlays @hannahxxrose Hard to fix software wise because all minigames have different behaviours and they are all mixed so it would require some major changes on our end to fix. So itās just better to throw server at it lol
@RefractionPlays @hannahxxrose A good example is UHC, starts at 90+ players but could last few minutes at less than 5 players. Meanwhile games like SkyBlock hold full Ā«Ā serversĀ Ā» at all times but lower playercount, much easier to balance and avoid lag.
@RefractionPlays @hannahxxrose Game starts are also a huge strain, so bedwars/skywars with tons of stop/starts can gives spikes.
In the end, its our old content creating issues - but the virality of SkyBlock isnāt helping

Hypixel MC Server - Network Changes
- Added about 1200 minigame instances (60 server machines)
- Max players capacity increased from 36k to 50k
- Increased performance and eliminated lag issues across all games
- SkyBlock can now hold over 15k without impacting other games
On average, players have played over 330 minutes already in SkyBlock.
The dev team also fixed like over a thousand bugs in SkyBlock in the past 2 weeks, thank you all for helping!
By the way, if you see a game-breaking exploit, reporting on https://hypixel.net/bugs might earn you a special item and avoid getting in trouble if someone else does it.

I know it sucks but this what Minecraft has become, itās easy to hack and they have no plan to change it.

@TayberJG Using the report commands puts it in an organized list and people on duty takes cares of it. Moderator is a volunteer position, not a job where they have to have to be 24/7. Just compare with WoW or Minecraft itself. There is no direct contact, it take Minecraft weeks for tickets
@TayberJG Battling hackers with more moderators does not fix the core issues, more than 90% of bans are issues automatically anyway.
Ultimate solution is to keep updating, potentially use client and improve what we can. Or make our own game lolol

Hypixel Skyblock: Update 0.7 is still being worked on, we are in the testing phase at the moment, it's kind of a big update so no ETA yet.
Not today for sure, there are just too many players to roll an update at this point anyway.
@TakeMyPass Usually, it takes months to make content, but our team takes days/weeks so I would say we are pretty good at it.
The player count is still very high and breaking records, it's not like we desperately need these updates

The next big thing for Hypixel SkyBlock will be a dungeon system. Think adventure maps like we used to do but with scalable difficulty and less limitations, so noobs and veterans can experience it, but also allows us for insane end game content, boss mechanics and much more.
Kinda like WoW Mythics / Diablo 3 torments.
This will take a while before we see it on the server, but itās something to look forward to :)
In the meantime we have ton of updates that will be released.

The current support is a bit overwhelmed with tickets since the server grew 3x in less than 2 months.
We are hiring people to speed up the process, tickets can take up to 2-3 weeks in the current state. Training for new people starts this week! Yours should be answered soon!

Don't expect any major Hypixel SkyBlock content for a few weeks, I want the team to rest and then spend time on bugs/balance/QoL/etc. The summer has been really intense and I am beyond proud of what they have accomplished. From 25k to 74k CCU in less than 2 months, that's nuts.
On a personal level, it has been a crazy busy summer - with Hytale and the MC server both doing so well, I haven't had time to just "realize" how lucky I am to be part of this. Thank you all for supporting us over the last 7 years, I am beyond grateful.ā¤ļø
SkyBlock is growing faster than anyone could have predicted and our server team is actually relatively small right now, we were perfectly sized for 25k, not 74k! That being said, I'll be investing significantly to scale the team in the coming weeks, keep an eye out if interested.

Going to raise the player cap of SkyBlock tomorrow, lots needs to be changed because when unrelated crashes happen people risk losing some stuff. That's not good, even for a prototype game.
@ticass234 We expected the game to get a maximum of 2-3k players and die down, now it reaches 37k+ and keeps growing.
So the whole "logging everything" becomes a lot more complex haha.

@Aurelien_Sama 76.4k is our record, but we haven't been adding any more servers to our fleet because MC Java doesn't support transfer packets so it's tricky to cloud scale.

It takes about 2 or 3 days before you "get comfortable" and forget you are even walking. I'm not physically fit and was walking 4-5 hours a day.
@sonii If you have a good, heavy and solid standing desk, you are golden because your keyboard/house and especially monitor won't move and disorient you while gaming.

Ive made progress on my gaming LAN room in my limited free time. Havenāt been giving updates because I had water infiltration few months ago and I had to redo the whole thing but now we back on track.
Managed to get 50ft hdmi working at 1440p 100hz (pc are in cabinet).
Goal is to have all 8x PCs machines in a closet (with custom air system) and the playing area just monitors/keyboards/etc. Also found out that I need recent GPUs for hdmi 2.0 to work so will have to find good deal lol.
Ill post pictures later, atm its a mess of tests.
Aiming for 144hz, at 120hz I had issues so Ill be shopping for different cables and ideas. Worse case Ill just have 4 out of 8 PCs with 100hz and rest at 144 until I find solution.
DisplayPorts, even with booster, didnt work. So HDMI 2.0 is the way to go atm with this length.

Surgery went well, however they had to do a bigger one than panned, he wonāt be able to run for 4-6 months and will potentially require another surgery in 2 months.
He has a genetic issue with his knees, have to reconfigure how they operate, otherwise heās in pain.
Vet called me, Henzo is not feeling well psychologically and we have to come see him asap :(
Finally home after a long drive. Henzo managed to eat and is now sleeping, thatās good news because he didnāt eat or sleep since he woke up from surgery yesterday! Still a long recovery ahead but heās doing better psychologically.

In the short term we will be posting a few critical roles, especially in the anticheat and legal department as we are seeing more and more hack clients are becoming growing ābusinessesā that focuses entitely on our server.
Iāll be opening a lot of job positions early 2020 for the Hypixel MC server to support more update, anticheat improvements, new features and much more.
I mean, the server went from 25k peak to 90k and we didnāt grow the team, itās been quite challenging!

All of the cablings goes to a closet with ventilation, so no heat, dust or noise while gaming.
Downside is, 144hz 1440p HDMI 2.0b after 50ft gets shaky, so the last 2 PCs might only get 100 or 120hz

*Hypixel Server plans for 2020*
We will be doing massive investments towards anti-cheat, tools and moderation in an effort to combat cheating.
Starting today, we are opening 3 full-time anti-cheat devs positions that will work for years to come. If need be, we will hire more.
We have exciting things in the works that will make the server a lot easier to moderate and new ways for the players to help us in doing so. More details will follow in the coming months as we get closer to release.
If you are interested, please go to our /jobs page and apply. Just use the minigame dev template if the positions are not up.
On top of that, our current dev team will be focusing heavily on new detection methods and moderation tools in the coming weeks.
In the past few months, I've given the staff team new paid positions to help manage a much larger team. As much as it helped to introduce new management positions, it didnāt fix the fact that we currently had a large portion of the team simply inactive.
As for helpers and moderators, they play a big part in all of this and we want to give them more tools and quality time to make sure they feel empowered in their quest to make the community a better place.
New tools, guidelines or rules meant that we had to reach out to these members and it was becoming increasingly difficult to just be agile as a team. A problem we kept pushing back, but it was growing to a point where we couldnāt ignore anymore.

One key thing has been a treadmill desk and itās life changing, worth investing in very good setup. You end up walking 5+ hours a day and can play most games!
@xAllyMcC Lack of information means you canāt fully understand the decision. He actually did not dupe himself and many players were mentioning the exploit during the bug, so instead of banning 1000 people we rollbacked affected players. That being said, I still wanted to punish him.
@xAllyMcC So a rank removal and account lock seems appropriate. He can play alts and such, itās a lock only on SkyBlock. Not many got banned during that time, because well some were trolling others to do it and lots of items were lost.
@xAllyMcC He did not exploit, thats the catch. He only was dumb enough to tell players about it in public chat before we shutdown the bug.
Also, all of it was rollbacked and WE asumed the blame. I saw people abuse and dupe millions, would have taken months of staff work.
@xAllyMcC All in all, heās one of the very few who got punished.
And the community went very hard at him already, so rank removal and main account lock seems fair.
If he mess up again, heās in big trouble thatās for sure.
@xAllyMcC I checked logs and he was not fully aware, itās a complex case and he was just very dumb in that moment. So itās a balance act, I mean... many players did it and we issued no punishments because it was too much and the rollback fixed everything.
@xAllyMcC We had major issues behind the scenes and couldnāt take down skyblock fast enough, so this id why WE are taking the blame on this one.
@xAllyMcC Just to note, some players abused too far and got banned.
In pigās case, he didnt do much, but was dumb enough to mention the bug. So itās like ehhhhhh, but so were many other players. Im literally acting harsher on HIM.

@hannahxxrose UHC and Ranked skywars has 1/20 of the overall players but yet take a large portion of the investments while making negative income. But yet we still do it, pushing as far as we technically can to counter the cheater issue. Meanwhile, hack clients makes businesses of it all.

We had to upgrade our Hypixel minigames website for security and compatibility reasons. To be honest, some stuff looks horrible right now but eventually our goal is to improve it over time and get closer to what we had before, whole also using new features.

With the recent unforeseen surge of players, some of our core systems that were due for upgrades were getting hit hard and causing instability. We are now running at a healthy 9% CPU load average at 90,000 players and we will be deploying even more optimization, just in case.
In the last few days, the @HypixelNetwork team worked around the clock and deployed over 50 optimization patches, hardware upgrades, installed hundreds of servers and developed new tech that will allow scaling parts of our network on demand.
Now, the real challenge is having enough capacity (servers) so that everyone can play and socialize with their friends during these trying times. Thanks to @AgentK20 for jumping in and introducing new "cloud" hybrid technology that we are currently testing with great success.
As soon as we are done testing and feel comfortable with it all, we are going to be enabling triple coins / exp across the network.

The "hybrid cloud" tech works but we have yet to find a proper host with enough capacity in Chicago (can't be too far from our DC because of how MC works with bungees, etc), once we find a host solution we could scale much higher.

@Garnc2 Well I mean, I literally can see the x-ray mod name on your login data.
As for the 90d instead of 30d, comp accounts adds weight to the systems (and decays over time).
On top of that, you have several bans and mutes on your accounts, including exploiting, booster and more.
@Garnc2 A lot of people use the "comp" excuse to get around the bans - so that's why it adds weight, even if we unban.
It's to prevent abusers (there's a lot).
So if you were to wait a few weeks before using the x-ray, you would have gotten 30d instead of 90d.
@Garnc2 For example, using a friend's computer to hack on a tournament and claim being "comp" to get unbanned.
Sometimes it's true, sometimes it's not. So the weight is added if unbanned, just in case the account gets flagged again.
@Garnc2 I DM'd you the name of the x-ray mod caught so you can remove it.
Not sure what else I can do, the weight system is there to avoid being overwhelmed by requests.
I understand why you are frustrated because you didn't know about the x-ray or comp weight though.

Reality is, as you can see, giving the voting options to players is not ideal. Confirming my theory.
@FinlayPacks @HypixelNetwork For example, if we gave the voting power to players for updates/new games, it would harm the server long term.
Innovation often comes with uncomfortable design decisions but for the greater good, which sometimes requires going on an uncharted unpopular path.
@FinlayPacks @HypixelNetwork However, if we go into the extremes, if only 2 players want a tournament for X game and 10000 others want Y game, then we need to have a serious discussion.
Running tournaments requires hundreds of dev/staff hours. So we have to be carefully balancing this variable as well.

We banned thousands of accounts today and I have seen too many upset players, because they just want to play other games but got caught in the wave and don't care anymore about Ranked Skywars. It made me truly reconsider the reward system in Ranked Skywars.
On a serious note, data shows Ranked SkyWars breeds toxicity and 1st-time hackers, because it's too difficult and most of the time simply impossible for most players to even be able to reach the highest and greatest rewards, unless they share account, hack or get boosted.
Maybe we can find a great solution, similar to the tournament shop system potentially. On our side, we are improving anti-cheat daily, but it still means people are getting their 1st ever ban because they couldn't handle not reaching their goals.
@urblur Yes, but the rewards are what pushes people over the edge to their 1st time hacking, boosting, or sharing acc attempt.
We don't see it as bad in other games, even UHC.

However, the system handling the bz/ah was still using the old IP for a few secs.
@Parsha_XD @Lego_Maestro We thought of everything in regards to bz/ah, except we didn't take into moving servers for 2 reasons.
1. We didn't expect alpha to need more than 500 slots at all
2. performance issues (mem leak getting progressively getting worse) that bad

1. they saw AH/BZ being closed for a few minutes
2. they saw some weird auctions going around
3. they saw some big players getting banned
the actual economic impact is none, especially because we wiped fast

@Lonttano @grajnar @NirkOG Low fps and lag spikes in "PVP run" the laggiest game with the most "false accusations" because of how the blocks, light updates, and other issues cause clients to somewhat desync with the server.
@Lonttano @grajnar @NirkOG I checked all videos, the mode PvP run is known for being visually screwed up like this. When you check replays it's a totally different story because you can slow time (and avoid visual de-sync).

Thereās also a TV with custom made furniture to enclose all consoles.
The better PC is used for VR.
The high temp of the PC rack is because the closet AC was not installed yet.
No water damage to PCs.
Was about 85% done; still had to install consoles, figurines stands, work on AC system for PCs and QoL updates here and there.
Rebuild is on the way, will take a while because the drain system is entirely screwed up, so need to wait on builders to fix that first!

Today, I want to make this public statement about my situation to avoid any anxieties or guilt I could have in regards to my public absence. The reality is that my team is amazing and I have nothing to worry about.
I have been prioritizing work, my comfort zone, thinking I would have ātime to fix itā in the future. Unfortunately, the ātime to fix itā never came and my health kept on declining.
To give you all some context: Three years ago my doctor scheduled scans after finding anomalies. However, I never did the scans and never went back to my doctor since then. This is how reckless I have been about my health.
