We've released a hotfix to remove the Boom Bow from the Team Rumble LTM. The Boom Bow was too powerful in this mode due to players respwaning with 100HP.
My first thought as well. The timing is really odd. It's not like this is a new issue.
Removing it has been on the to-do list for a while, but the LTM team has been busy cooking up other stuff, so we weren’t able to push the fix until today.
Then how in the flip is the rocket launcher still in the game.
Rocket launcher has a better tell, moves slower, and thus can be fairly easily blocked by a single wall. Although we did lower the spawn rate for them by quite a bit a few weeks ago, as they are still very strong.
The real question is why don’t we have 50v50 back? I’m pretty sure everybody prefers it over team rubble.

To answer your question, based on pure speculation, they have access to data reflecting how many active players there are at any given time, at any given moment.
Safe bet that they compared the data.
Yeah we look at various metrics such as # of matches per day per player, # of players in the mode on a given day of the week compared to the other modes, etc. Team Rumble is statistically our most popular large team mode by a pretty wide margin. Any guesses as to which small-team LTM is the most popular?
Why would you remove a weapon that was made for casuals from the casual mode but leave it in competitive instead of doing the opposite or even just balancing it
There were a couple reasons to pull it from Rumble. The first one you already touched upon - many of our newer/less skilled players play exclusively in TR, and while the BB is easy to use, it's very difficult to defend against (especially for new players). The second reason is TR is a super chaotic mode which was allowing BB snipers to hide for long periods of time and rack up kills without their targets being able to figure out where the attack came from. Lastly, it was just becoming "too meta" for the mode. Those who have a bow would succeed, those who couldn't find one wouldn't have a much tougher time. Hopefully that all makes sense - let me know if you have any other questions about this or if there are other loot issues in the other LTMs. Thanks guys!

I believe the original hotfix missed the vending machines. Should be all good now though.
Omg thank you. The boom bow and rpg are the weapons people use when they're getting beat or just angry. Suiciding with the rpg is something I don't understand.
Yeah, we reduced the rocket launcher spawn rate a few weeks ago. I'm still a bit on the fence as to whether or not it should be pulled from the mode completely.
Seems so late to release an urgent hotfix to vary the move pool between modes. It was relatively rare after adjustments awhile ago.
The 100HP wouldn't have been too much of an issue if Siphon was at least in there, players just respawn with 100 and 100, or the damage was nerfed to 99 for Rumble.

This is true. The problem with siphon is that it only benefits the players who are able to get elims... "the rich get richer". We want TR to be an experience that's fun for all player types, so we are trying to avoid adding things to the mode that only benefits the better players. There's a good chance that we will run a separate version of Rumble that includes siphon, and see how heavily it is played. If people love it, it would become a part of the rotation.
Team Rumble has a seperate lootpool but Arena hasn't?? Thought you want to keep the core game the same?
All LTMs have their own loot pools and are set up differently from Solo/Duo/Squad/Arena. In fact in many of the modes, the only thing that makes them unique is loot & storm timing differences.
I love how you can deploy hotfixes to do shit like this and not whenever they are actually needed,for example,when there is a GAME BREAKING bug and u wait until next update....like wtf!?
Bugs usually require code changes to fix, which in turn require new builds. Hotfixes are data changes that can be done on the fly.
Are they any plans to improve the sound? Or are you guys actively working on improving it? It’s been weeks and it’s honestly terrible, it started when you first changed it at the beginning of season 7 I believe it was. Please give us some kind of update on this.
I am not aware of any plans to update the Bow. I'm sure the items guys will post something if they decide to change the weapon.
Why is epic ok with having separate loot pools for team rumble and solos, but not for arena?
Not my area of expertise (I work on LTMs and the map) so don't quote me on this, but I believe the competitive team is in favor of Arena & Squads having the same loot so the modes feel as similar as possible. There's a lot of crossover between Squads players & Arena players, so the more unified those playlists are, the more valid playing in either place will be practice-wise.
