Hey everyone,

I promised I’d introduce myself, so here goes nothing, I guess!

Tl;dr Hi, the name’s Kahuna, I work for SE as a community person, I played FFXIV even before I started, and now I’m here. Kthxbye!

Wall of Text: My name’s Hergen “Kahuna” Thaens, and I'm now the resident Square Enix guy here. I'm currently working in the Square Enix Europe offices in London, and have been for about a month now. I've miraculously survived as a CM in the industry for almost 6 years, though mostly for ze Germanz.

I was lucky to have a lot of free time before SE hired me, and the free time coincided with the release of FFXIV – I'm quite happy with my equipment and the last time I managed to find time to play, I was wiping on Twintania and Titan EX. Raptr has logged something around 700 hours or so. No judging! Back in 2005/2006 I've also been playing FFXI.

Here at SE, I’ll be taking part in quite a few things – part of that is working with external communities such as Reddit and others. I've started being active in some communities, both German and English, and I'm open to suggestions for more.

I will also be writing blog posts, for instance for the PlayStation.com blog, with news and updates. Example: http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2014/01/27/final-fantasy-xiv-a-realm-reborn-ps4-release-date-and-collectors-edition-revealed/

That being said, please let it be known that I am but a mortal fool without the ability of spontaneous cloning, which means the time I can spend here is limited, specifically to times when I am not asleep, in meetings (the latter does not exclude the former), at events, or working on other stuff™. And sometimes I will have to switch into drone mode, when you will repeatedly read “Please report this to our GMs”, “Have you already checked the official forums?” or “Please keep an eye on the Facebook updates”. It comes with the job, but I will try to keep it to a minimum.

That should be it. Please keep in mind that this is not meant to be about me - I just thought it's polite to introduce myself, and people were asking me stuff anyway. I will mostly be here to comment on stuff I see and try to give helpful tips, or post updates when (or slightly before) they go up on Facebook an co.

If you think I might have missed something important, feel free to send a link straight to my account!
