I have been gaming for over 20 years, and EFT has the most insane gun mechanics in all of shooters that I have ever played. However, there is a gun mechanic that I feel is not utilized to its full potential, Ejecting Chambered Round.
Right now as of 7th January 2020, to eject the chambered round takes 3 very un-intuitive steps:
1. Check chamber (shift-T)
2. Unload Magazine (tab->right click on gun->click unload)
3. Eject Chambered Round (double left click on gun->right click on chambered ammo->click discard)
As I think many of you can agree with me, we NEVER use this feature because it is simply TOO cumbersome. Doing this in the middle of the gun fight is guaranteed death. Also, ammo was relatively inexpensive back then so this feature was a pretty pointless gimmick. However, as you might have already noticed, the price of good ammo has been on the rise (11USD per M995).
Due to the rise of the price of good ammo, I have found myself mixing ammo when I'm out raiding. I will have 4 mags of M855 and 2 mags of M995, so when I'm in a scav hot spot, I don't have to waste expensive ammo on scavs. Then, when I'm going into PMC hot spots (e.g Custom Dorms) I will swap out my M855 mag to the M995 mag. Here comes the problem, even though I just swapped into the M995 mag, my gun is still chambered in M855.
Before some of you say "big fucking deal man, it's just 1 round", but man, I can assure you it's a big fucking deal. Giving up your ability to 1 tap in the head is a huge disadvantage. So I either do the whole tabbing and right click and risk someone getting a jump on me, or I have to fire the gun one time to get the M995 to chamber and tell everyone around the area that I'M HERE. This is really cumbersome.
I'm no game developer, but I think this chambered round ejection if implement correctly can bring the already awesome gun mechanic to a new level by enabling players to reliably mix and match their ammo.
My suggestion? Shift-double tap T for ejection.
