The poison won't affect your target if you release a perfect drawn arrow just before you get killed, that's pretty noticeable because bows have different damage values whether you're hitting a perfect draw or not, so i can see the optimal damage popping up and there's just no poison being afflicted.

edit: i wasn't trying to say that the enemy should be poisoned after death.
