So I came back to try the new patch and I'm trying to unlock the "new" ranged weapon but I don't know if I'm missing something, any tips?

If you reached the maelstrom and have never completed any repeater quests, then they are unavailable (this is a bug). We are working on a fix, but if you contact support then they can help you out to get the weapons on your account. :}
