I wish they'd reject Tencent but I know they won't. They'll accept the deal and we'll be fed the usual PR drivel of " Everything is fine, nothing will change, we promise more investment in your favorite games " then the subtleness will end and the game will go to shit, just like most gaming companies have done after takeovers, they'll also censor the game as heavily as they can get away with.

Tencent already owns 29% of the company and the acquisition is up to our shareholders, in the end. So far they've been hands-off and haven't done anything to change how we do things. That will continue.

So they are creating a game to compete with conan exiles? On top of that they are going to decrease resources for the game. Then wtf did I spend all this money for?

The Dune game was announced a while ago, and it's still a ways away. We'll continue to support Conan Exiles :)

Yep, which means no criticism allowed if it's directed towards Winnie the Pooh and his mates in the Chinese government, they'll probably censor the game as well.

Tencent has also invested in Reddit. Your comment about the Chinese president seems to be OK.

So... Clicking in "learn more" or something like that, found the new map as DLC.... This will be the "new" way to release new content? What about those bugs that "are fixed internally and coming in following patches" are included in that dlc map? This is a big news and I (do not know about other people) really want info about this. Please if these news are good or bad do not make Conan Exiles the new Fallout 76 with that "game as a live service".

Conan Exiles bug fixes will always be free. We won't charge for bug fixes.

Congrats on this, I think in it's entirety it's a good move for you guys.

Though I do have a small concern in reading that in increasing the scope of the upcoming game based on Dune - it will be taking initiative away from other games. Is this true?

With the small crew working behind Conan Exiles already, it feels like any progress and content is coming far too slow to be feasible or worthwhile. So stretching it even thinner, worries me even more.

We also have a studio over in the US, who'll be helping out with development resources on the Dune game and on Conan Exiles. So there's more than enough people to go around :)

We're not quite ready to talk about it yet, but we can confirm we are working on a new map and we look forward to revealing more in the future. Exciting times ahead for Conan Exiles.

There’s a difference between invested and owned. While I agree I don’t think you guys won’t be that extreme, I could easily see making your games pass the Chinese game board now. Which means a lot more restrictions on the type of content allowed. If you guys did what was “right” you would make different clients for both China and other countries. But, I figure you will do what is “cheap” and just make a single client to the largest restrictions, so China.

I know this post is a little old by now Jev, but.

Personally I would love a Q&A post on Reddit, which could be brought up on one of the next Dev Streams where one could answer peoples concerns.

But with the community being a bit riled up now, I'm not sure many, if any, decent questions would be asked. Something to consider perhaps.

Edit: Perhaps delay or scratch this idea until relevant, we'll see what the shareholders decide. Just want whats best for both FunCom and the Community.

If we feel it's pertinent to do so, then a Q&A thread/stream is a good idea. Thank you for the suggestion :)

We're working on more fixes for critical bugs and issues and we're planning a new patch very soon, in fact :)

Will you actively support and continue to develop for Conan Exiles or is this a polite way of indicating it'll pretty much be on maintenance with very little new stuff or even improvements? Because the more Funcom talks Dune the more Conan feels about to be tossed aside.

We will still support and develop for Conan Exiles. We're lucky enough to have a studio in Oslo and a studio in Durham, NC, and there are teams from both studios working on Exiles.

There's a new map coming to Conan Exiles and, of course, more fixes and improvements.

That would be all great if Tencent just left you guys do your own thing, but you and I know that’s not happening.

They left us to do our own thing when they acquired 29% of our stocks earlier this year. They've left the other Western developers to their own thing as well, so this won't be any different.

Hey, I have faith in you guys. Tencent also bought a majority stake in Grinding Gear Games. I still love Path of Exile. Based on evidence, I believe you guys will continue to make great games.

Hi, JEV. I don't care too much about share ownership. What I really enjoy is the game design and artwork you guys produce. I bought Conan Exiles when it was still early access. I still play it today. I have all the DLCs. I'll get the Dune game too, if it interests me.

That being said, will Dune have nude models and outfit designs like that we see in Conan Exiles and saw in the Conan MMORPG? It is one of the biggest and a unique reason I come back to your game.

Unfortunately I can't talk about the Dune game and what will or won't be in it.

The news are both exciting and scary, as it adds alot of unknowns. One of my questions would have been if FunCom would do something similar to GGG and Path of Exile (which saw Tencent do a Majority share last year of 80%).

Basically a western client, which GGG works on and a Chinese client mostly headed by Tencent (I believe).

I think the prospect of Conan Exiles getting censored region (world) wide to fit a Chinese market is one of the things that has Reddit riled up (among other things such as change in the monetization model).

Nevertheless, some of these we can't answer yet I think, and only time will tell I supose.

(Personally I think it's exciting as I can see how it would broaden FunComs horizon, which is always nice.

But scary because of: a) Mega corperations buying out a ton of companies (looking at you Disney) and b) the censorship. )

We absolutely understand why some of our community would be a little put off by this. The nudity won't be censored world-wide. It's part of what helped Conan Exiles become the success it is, so there's no reason for us to change that. :)

Please fix the single player physics breaking with character height other than zero. It was reported but never fixed...
