I have been playing Anno 1800 sandbox nonstop for the last couple weeks..I have yet to "finish" a single game (I have victory conditions set). I keep getting fairly deep into my games, but then just get the urge to start over. My last sandbox, which I just deleted, I was doing well. I had established colonies in the old and new world, my economy was booming, etc. But...but...I always get the feeling I can do better. So I start over. It's happened like 30 times.

I think most of the fun for me is in the beginning, in first establishing everything, so I keep going back to it. Well, a combination of that and seeing flaws in my logistics so I want a fresh start to correct them from the bottom up.

Anyone else in the similar boat? I've settled in Trelawney like 5 times but haven't even touched it otherwise because I become too engaged in the old and new world.

Bluntly speaking- as long as you have fun, who cares? That is after all what gaming should be about, and if you find yourself enjoying starting over and over again all the time more fun than finishing a game, why should that be bad?

I can even relate to be honest, as I often find the early stages of Total War games as I conquer my first few cities more fun than managing huge empires in the end. I think that is also what makes many of these more sandbox-y strategy games so great- they allow players with different play styles to carve out their own niches and fun zones.
